Duration: 40 minutes
Topic: «Fun with sports and English!»
Goal: to combine physical activity with English language practice, introduce
and reinforce sports‑related vocabulary.
Equipment: balls (different sizes), skipping ropes, cones, flashcards with
sports images, music player.
1.Warm‑up (10 minutes)
Greeting and introduction:
Teacher: “Hello, everyone! I’m glad to see you today!”
Students: “Hello, teacher!”
Teacher: “Today we’re going to play games and learn some English words
about sports.”
Counting and stretching:
Teacher leads stretching exercises, counting in English:
“One — touch your toes!”
“Two — reach for the sky!”
“Three — bend left!”
“Four — bend right!”
“Five — jump up high!”
Action commands practice:
Teacher gives commands, students follow:
“Run in place!”
“Jump three times!”
“Clap your hands!”
“Turn around!”
“Stop!”
2. Main part (20 minutes)
Stage 1. Vocabulary introduction (5 minutes)
Using flashcards, teacher introduces key words:
run — бег;
jump — прыжок;
skip — прыгать через скакалку;
throw — бросать;
catch — ловить;
football — футбол;
basketball — баскетбол;
tennis — теннис;
swim — плавать (imaginary);
dance — танцевать.
Students repeat each word after the teacher, then practice saying the words
while mimicking the actions.
Stage 2. Games and activities (15 minutes)
Game 1: “Do what I say!”
Teacher calls out actions in English, students perform them. Gradually
increase speed.
Example commands: “Jump!”, “Run!”, “Stop and clap!”, “Turn and jump!”
Game 2: “Ball commands”
Students stand in a circle. Teacher throws a ball to a student and says an action.
The student catches the ball, repeats the word, performs the action, then
throws the ball back.
Examples:
Teacher: “Throw!” → Student throws the ball back.
Teacher: “Jump!” → Student jumps, then returns the ball.
Activity 3: “Relay race with English commands”
Divide class into two teams. Each team runs a relay where they must complete tasks based on English commands at stations:
Station 1: “Jump five times!”
Station 2: “Run around the cone!”
Station 3: “Catch the ball!”
Station 4: “Skip once!”
3. Cool‑down and review (10 minutes)
Calming walk and breathing:
Students walk slowly around the hall, practicing deep breaths. Teacher says: “Breathe in… breathe out…”
Review game: “Show me!”
Teacher says a word, students show the action without speaking.
Words: run, jump, skip, throw, catch, dance.
Q&A review:
Teacher asks simple questions, students answer with “Yes” or “No”:
“Can you run?”
“Can you swim?” (imaginary)
“Do you like to jump?”
Closing:
Teacher: “Great job today! What English words did we learn?” (students name a few).
Teacher: “Remember: sport is fun, and English is fun too! See you next time!”
Students: “Goodbye, teacher!”
